I hope you are not getting sick of seeing my sketchbooks, as I'm having a lot of fun going back through them! Lots of wedding paper good ideas in these newer books, as well as logo design sketches.
Sabina (who has a beautiful website full of lovely design) asked yesterday who are some artists/illustrators that influenced me while I was developing my style - and I am having a tough time answering that question! It is probably the same people I still love today; Edward Gorey, Margaret Kilgallen, Olle Eksell, Camilla Engman, Shinzi Katoah, Alice and Martin Provensen - there are probably a million others.... I really try hard to look at other peoples work and enjoy it, but bring my own way of illustrating it to the table and I hope that shows through in my work.
i love seeing other people's sketch books! there's something about it..it's so personal. your sketches are great! :) thanks for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteaww thank you so much for answering my question! You have a very distinct style that is your own and your drawings do not look like other artwork that I have seen. I can see how your work have developed with the time and this is a result of inward decisions (the inner workings of your awesome imagination) as well as some influence from outside, even though it is really not obvious who influenced you most.
ReplyDeleteI am grateful for the names and I am checking their work. This will help me broaden my own horizon. I am mostly aware of the web and graphic design field and this makes me feel restricted. Thank you again and I am loving the sketchbooks!
jane - i know it's so great isn't it! i probably have some pretty embarrassing stuff in these books!
ReplyDeletesabina - of course! thank you for saying such sweet things!
