I like that there is a sense of flow in your pattern. The way that you placed the cute elephant with the bike is very harmonious. I would probably add some swirls with dotted lines to mask the uniform flow of the object and add some complexity to the pattern. But I always complicate things anyway.
What is troubling you with patterns? It really doesn't show that you struggle... It looks very good
Super cute! If you're looking to mix things up with future patterns maybe try flipping the direction of some of your icons or add some little secondary marks like swirls like Sabina suggested. But this one looks just dandy to me ;)
P.S. If you haven't seen over on print and pattern already they have a call for submissions for their new book—children's design! I immediately thought of your work. http://printpattern.blogspot.com/2012/02/new-print-pattern-book-call-for-entries.html
